New York State, Reimagine the Canals Initiative

Led by the Governor’s office through the New York Power Authority, a sweeping initiative was announced to examine how the Erie Canal system could be reimagined for the 21st century. This strategic planning process aimed to assure the long-term vitality of the Canal System. PrivliC worked as project consultant with the master-planning project engineering firm to help develop a strategy for the future of the canal, specifically focusing on finding new opportunities to enhance tourism and recreation along the canal corridor.

Meier’s Creek Brewing Company

When the Empire Farm Brewery declared bankruptcy, a new investment group led by Feldmeier Equipment, bought the property, equipment, and furnishings. They then embarked, through new limited liability corporations (LLC’s), on a transformative renovation, re-branding, and strategic re-positioning of the business. It successfully reopened its doors as Meier’s Creek Brewing Company.

Denver Union Station

The Union Station Alliance team consists of Colorado companies Larimer Associates, McWhinney, REGen, LLC, Sage Hospitality and Urban Neighborhoods. The representatives of these companies were awarded a 99-year lease of the historic transit building and tasked with revitalizing the downtown landmark with a $54 million renovation. Known today as “Denver’s Living Room,” Denver Union Station now features the 112-room Crawford Hotel and an eclectic mix of 13 local restaurants, shops and bars. Denver Union Station also serves as the transit center for the city and welcomes the first commuter rail line from Denver International Airport, connecting the city to the world.

Metropolitan State University of Denver

A unique combination of a higher-education classroom building, a teaching laboratory, a commercial hotel – Springhill Suites by Marriott – and a conference center, the Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center (HLC) is the home to the School of Hospitality, Events and Tourism at MSU Denver. The HLC is the only such facility in Colorado. In a unique public/private partnership, MSU Denver and Sage Hospitality have built an on-campus, full-service learning laboratory—the Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center. While the property is run like a for-profit enterprise and students are taught business in this manner, all of the proceeds from the joint-venture go into a student scholarship fund, which has generated millions of dollars of scholarships to-date.
